Avogaire Style Profile: 'Out of the sheerness of her skirt'

Fashion Blog Avogaire style profile on me from the Tranoï tradeshow during Paris Fashion Week.

There an interesting way to layer that one rarely considers: the prospect of a sheer skirt worn above a pair of dark colored shorts or a mini skirt. We love how the skirt barely lets the shoes worn underneath or the shorts be seen. The belt is twisted, the sleeves carefully rolled up and the jewelry and headpiece carefully chosen. It's a look that appears to belong to the simplest but what it really is, is a precise inspection of the garments' attributes and the possibilities that lie within.

Sex and the City Café: What They Wore

Last Friday I attended an author promo and book signing for the Sex and the City 2 movie premier. Heather Stimmler-Hall of Secrets of Paris and author-chef-food expert David Lebovitz came out to promote their new titles. Heather's Naughty New York is in stores December 2010 and David's Ready For Dessert released previously this spring. The ex-pat authors also spoke about how they ended up in Paris and their fame in the blogosphere.
Being the style blogger I am, I had to photograph their outfits, especially since Heather looked so quinntessentially French.

Rah Rah... Oh Gaga!

Two words: Lady. Gaga.

Some love her, some hate her. Personally, I'm a lover. From her fun-to-dance-to, catchy songs, to her out of this world costumes, I'm a fan through and through. She is like no other musician/fashion icon/media persona out there. T Magazine's blog published an interview with the man responsible for the living fashion spread which is the music video for "Bad Romance". Nicola Formichetti is not only stylist to Miss Gaga, but also, the creative director of magazine Dazed and Confused and fashion director of Vogue Hommes Japan.

How does someone come up with the such imaginative spectacles that Lady Gaga wears? He told T Magazine he often finds inspiration in his "huge toy collection that [he sources] through for ideas". Formichetti also said, "most importantly [he finds] that traveling and visiting new places is very inspiring."

Agreed! Living in Paris, and doing my day-to-day routine, I find tons of inspiration. Any large city introduces a plethora of people and scenes; everyday is a new experience. I'm excited to travel more this semester to expand my file of cultural influences.
Formichetti, half-Japanese, half-Italian, donates his "East meets West" personal style to his work as well.

I would love to pick his brain. I have always been in complete awe of Lady Gaga, especially with her latest "Bad Romance" video. Granted, Gaga brings much of her own personal style to what she wears, so working with Formichetti couldn't have created a better fashion love affair.

The internet is tediously slow here, so I have fallen behind on my blogging. (It also doesn't help having a sinus infection and all I want to do is sleep!) I'm done filling my blog with false promises though. I'll post soon, but I don't know how soon!
