Avogaire Style Profile: 'Out of the sheerness of her skirt'

Fashion Blog Avogaire style profile on me from the Tranoï tradeshow during Paris Fashion Week.

There an interesting way to layer that one rarely considers: the prospect of a sheer skirt worn above a pair of dark colored shorts or a mini skirt. We love how the skirt barely lets the shoes worn underneath or the shorts be seen. The belt is twisted, the sleeves carefully rolled up and the jewelry and headpiece carefully chosen. It's a look that appears to belong to the simplest but what it really is, is a precise inspection of the garments' attributes and the possibilities that lie within.

Structure in Fragility: Amaya Arzuaga S/S12

What I Wore: Reformation open-back striped blouse,
JBrand skinnies, Aldo black wedges,
vintage pearl necklace worn as bracelet
As the sun set over the Seine, September 30th, we enjoyed a small Fashion Week apéritif before the Amaya Arzuaga show. We sipped the Spanish designer's very own Crianza red wine, Ribera Del Duero Amaya Arzuaga,  from her father's winery, Arzuaga Navarro. On the quay at the Cité de la Mode et du Design (the strange green building in the 13th arrondissement) models in sheer pastels, plunging necklines, and tubular silhouettes introduced Arzuaga's Spring/Summer 2012 collection. The collection is defined by 'plurality', the designer described, "Unity is built by the sum of many parts, structure is created from fragility, hiding some by overlaying, unveiling shapes, as if layers of reality create a new context for developing the natural use of materials." Displaying this structure from fragility, undulating, 'concentrically pressed pleats' made of silk and linen blends and double taffeta, and 'geometric patterns made out of raffia' streamed throughout the show. A single black line also coursed steadily with Arzuaga's technique of using bicolor axes. I particularly enjoyed the almost kissing pleated details, the use of accordion pleats on swimwear, and the overturned cone raffia dresses.

Ciao Bella

Hello, hello! Recently the dreary weather in Paris has led me to do some more "therapy shopping". It also doesn't help... my bank account, that there are AMAZING sales all over Paris either, for it is soldes season.  (For those of you who don't know what soldes is, French shops tend not to have a "sale section". Instead, to clear out Winter inventory before Spring/Summer, and to clear out Summer inventory before Fall/Winter, the stores have huge sales - 75% off - mid-January to mid-February and mid-July to mid-August.)
Since soldes is coming to a close, stores are starting to do their final markdowns, which are just too irresistible. So far my purchases, in addition to all of the vintage, have been: a red-orange cable knit tube scarf from Kookaï (a shop, full of beautiful clothing, which seems to exist everywhere but the Americas. Oh poo.), black shorts with detachable suspenders from Zara (this purchase was quite exciting for me because my last pair of suspenders broke awhile ago, and I've been having trouble finding a replacement!), a fun neon pink and orange necklace from H&M (definitely a statement piece), and a dusty rose dress that I've been eyeing at Zara all semester that finally went on sale!

Here is the rose dress, so girly and pretty, I'm absolutely in love with it.

Keep your eyes peeled for more outfit posts with some of the other purchases.

In other news...
I wanted to say Arrevederci to you all for I leave for Italia on Saturday. I may have time between cleaning my room and packing my suitcase to squeeze one last post in before I leave, but if not, ciao bellas! I will hopefully come back with some wonderful posts from my whirlwind tour.
