Vendredi en couleur: Camel for Camille

Not the spitting kind, the color-of-the-season kind. C. rightly requested Camel to cover this week as my comeback Vendredi en couleur. Whether tapered trousers, classic trenches, or smart oxfords, I'm happy to be discussing this must have for fall. The color, obviously named so from the animal, has always been a timeless neutral, though this year it has gained the spotlight on runways, in basics, and with fashionites worldwide. Below I've found some stunning coats, blazers, boots, and bags that are absolutely to die for. When I imagine Camel clothing, I always link to the nonconformist, powerful yet beautiful styles of Katharine Hepburn. Dahling, this color is simply perfect when your classic, independent and intelligent side craves for a close up.

Hello? Anyone Out There?

Have you given up on me? I hope not.
Thanks for reading. <3

Please excuse my absence. It was only yesterday I was packing my life up in Paris, moving back stateside to Princeton for a few weeks, and then all the way south to Baton Rouge. How did the end of July become mid-September? A vortex has sucked me up and kept me spinning for weeks now, but with the start of Fashion Week, I decided it's just irresponsible for me not to be blogging.
Every year, Fashion Week seems to come at the worst time, so I have barely been following. Thank goodness for Twitter where I can get a tidbit here and there, especially with their #nyfw site. With my lack of Spring 2011 fashion knowledge, I'm using this weekend to catch up.
Loyal readers, get ready for....

  • Hot Fall advice (and no, I am not saying that to be cheesy, I really mean HOT. Baton Rouge is rather steamy.) on what to wear when you're craving autumn apparel, yet have to dress for 90+℉ and 100% humidity.
  • My views and favorites from the Fashion Weeks.
  • An update on my DIY thrifted dress I have finally finished altering. Including a review on a sweet little sewing spot in Paris near République!
With that said, I am pleased to tell you that I am finally bringing Vendredi en couleur back. I would love suggestions for this week's color!

Well faithful followers thanks for holding your breath and staying with me.
Don't change that channel.

Vendredi en couleur

You say potato, I say potahto; you say eggplant, I say aubergine. As requested by my friend Craig while picnicking on Canal St. Martin, this week's couleur is Aubergine, or for the Americans - Eggplant.
In contrast to last week's Canary Yellow, I give you a color appropriate for all! According to Pantone's Find Your Perfect Color Palette - a guide to helping you figure out what color clothing is right for you - this rich purple is a crossover color, meaning it looks good on everyone. Yay! How do you don your aubergine/eggplant?

My beautiful friend, Rachel Kelley, proving the gorgeousness of aubergine.
Boys, you too can sport the color! Check out his awesome loafers.

My Pantone color palette is Sunrise, what's yours? Find out here and share in the comments!

Ahhh, Paris, City of Love and Lights

Paris: La Ville D'Amour
Though I'm belated, thank you Girl's Guide To Paris for selecting my image above as one of the winners of their Facebook Photo contest. Good fortune this autumn gave me a glimpse at why Paris really is the most romantic city. After what I assume many years together, this couple still expresses their love for each other, strolling through Paris holding hands.

I'd also like to congratulate Stacey Pedersen who took first with her photo (right) capturing La Fête Nationale (Bastille Day) fireworks at Trocadero. Between the explosive fireworks, the sparkling Tour Eiffel, and the diminishing glow of twilight, Stacey caught a beautiful spectrum of colors, creating a brilliant representation of The City of Lights.

A Little Slice of Gatsby at the Bois de Vincennes

At the Bois de Vincennes this weekend, Prete Moi Paris held it's first annual Coupe d'Eté Rowboat Races. The event was a wonderful success. Thank you to Captain Melissa for recruiting me as the official photographer to document it. Have a look at some of the photos below.
The race was close, but towards the end the girl's team pulled ahead and finished first. For the grand prize, the winners received a bottle of champagne which they generously shared with the rest of us. ;) The dress code was "white", but only Melissa, her boyfriend Charles, Simey and I complied. Too bad! The pictures would have been much better with everyone stepping out of The Great Gatsby to come to the boat races.

If you're in Paris next summer keep an eye out for the second annual Coupe d'Eté.

Looking forward to rowing with you next time!
